General Description :
Curcuma longa is commonly known as turmeric (Haldi in Hindi).
It is a perennial plant, which grows 60 to 90 cm. in height and has tufted leaves.

Uses :
The turmeric plant is of the ginger family, yielding aromatic rhizomes which are used as a spice in curries and as dyes.
It is yellow in colour and has an aromatic, slightly bitter taste-both in powder and paste form.
Medicinal Uses :
- The turmeric benefits in many deices. The juice of the raw root or the powder of the dried root mixed and taken with milk or water is very effective for intestinal problems and good for new mothers soon after delivery.
Turmeric also improves the overall health and promotes breast milk secretion.
